Baby Shower

My Mom, sis Sonrisa and sis Eleanore threw me a baby shower at my house on Saturday. We forgot to take pictures while everyone was there for the party, so we got one of us before we took off for the afternoon. Thanks to all those who came - if you didn't get invited it wasn't on purpose, just crazy getting them all out. I appreciate the gifts and love the chance to visit with friends I hardly get to see. Thanks to my friend Ashley for making the margaritas - I have just loved crunching on ice and wanted margaritas for the party. They were great!
Here's the nursery. My Grandma Lorraine painted the picture of the horse for my sister Eleanore and I just loved it so I asked if I could use it in Charlize's room - so thanks to Elle and Grandma Lorraine. I made the dust ruffle for the crib, the quilt for the daybed, red pillow and the denim liners for the baskets. That dresser in the corner is the changing table (the top folds out) and the baskets are to hold dipers and supplies. Hope it works as well as I hope.
My neice Addison is six months old and just adorable. We just love how happy she is all the time. She's sitting up on her own now (I just got the picture as she was laying down).
Eleanore was totally tired from the long week. She took the opportunity to put Addi down for a nap (so she did too).
We made the taco soup at my house so it didn't have to be transported and Eleanore picked out the most potent onion we've ever cut up. I thought she was just being silly so I took over and was dying with tears running down my face, so she tried it again for the last little bit. I had to get a picture to document such an obnoxious onion.
Four weeks to go!

Dixie Round-Up

Thursday was Kid's Night at the rodeo, so I promoted my class going along with two of the other second grade teachers Meghan and Kristen. We just headed there after school and had fun just being there together and seeing our students running around. I was totally feeling it Friday morning (sitting on those bleachers for a couple of hours and being on my feet all day) but it was fun being out with the girls.
(O and I'm on the count down - 6 weeks left)

Projects

Here's a sneak peek at the baby's room. I made the dust ruffle for the crib and and quilt is for the daybed so I'm pulling all of those colors in the room.
Nate wanted a quilt for the horse trailer so he picked out the material and would like denim in the mix. I think it'll look good when I get it all put together.
Here's the next project for me. I'm kinda surprised because its definitely frillier than what I would have thought I liked but I love the colors and I'll show more of the other print next time.

I have given most of these quilts away to family and have made a few for us (like the cowkid quillt). It really is easy to do, because if I can do it anyone can. :)

Labor Day Weekend

Well, traditionally Nate's gone to Flagstaff, AZ but we went for something different this year. We stayed a little closer to home but still had a break out of town, we went to Salina for a roping. It was a nice little trip. We needed a few supplies for the new horse trailer and realized we were in small town USA when the grocery store closed at 7 and we had to get what we needed at a gas station. Nate roped Friday nite and I felt bad because I fell asleep in the horse trailer catching up on sleep I'd been missing for weeks since school has started and missed watching him, but he's a sweetie and understands. Nate did well heading, unfortunately his heelers missed, so the trip was more for fun that to win money, but definitely worth it.
We came back to St. George on Saturday and I know its lame, but I spent several hours on Sunday and Monday at school getting stuff organized and ready. The count down's on and I only have 8 weeks left before I hand over my class to the sub and I've just got to have it all ready.

(I'm still working on transferring the video of Nate roping from the video camera)
